Lincoln South Eagles would like to announce Paul Stelzer as their club leader for 2020.
Stelzer signed on for a third year and we thought we’d reintroduce the little maestro to our supporter group and tell you a few things you may not know about him.
‘Pablo’ was born in the Barossa and played his first game for Barossa District in the Under Tens.
Achievements: One of many highlights came early for Stelz, winning an Under 17’s Barossa league medal which earnt him a crack in town where he played U17’s, U19’s and reserves footy for Central Districts. He was also selected in the state under 18’s. Paul is a five time A Grade premiership player, 1 for Renmark in the Riverland Football league and 4 flags at his beloved home club, Barossa Districts. His achievements don’t stop there though.. Stelz also won a club best and fairest at both of his senior clubs, he was a 5 time interleague rep and 3 time participant at the Zone country championships.
Paul also coached the Reserves team to an undefeated premiership in 2017.
Biggest Influence: Paul is a twin and his biggest influence has undoubtably been his partner in crime Matt Stelzer. They share a bond that only twins can share and they were fortunate enough to play one last game together earlier this year in Port Lincoln. Other influences include the great Alistair Clarkson, Roy Laird, Roger James, Mitch McNeil and Steve O’Connor.
What you wouldn’t know about Paul: Stelz is extremely superstitious… the left sock must be put on before the right. Even when he dresses his kids, it’s left sock first or all hell will break loose.
2020 goals:“As a football club, we need to play finals this season. To do that we have to create good habits and develop a ruthless work ethic”.
We wish Paul all the best for 2020.
